I am aware that one of the most common problems people have in bathrooms is unsightly mould or mildew stains on walls and ceilings so I thought I would give you some ideas on how to deal with them.

Mould and mildew are the result of high humidity which occurs when there is a high proportion of moisture in the air. It often happens in the steamiest room in your home which is naturally your bathroom. In many cases it is an indicator of a problem with damp.

It is often possible to deal with the mould by simply rubbing it off with a damp cloth. Alternatively, you can use one of the many a specialist mould or mildew removal products available online or at your local supermarket or hardware store.

A key factor to battling mould and mildew is ventilation. If possible open a window in the bathroom and ensure any fans are clean and in good working order.

The problem may be more serious and could be the result of damaged or blocked gutters or rising damp. If the problem persists, you would be well advised to call in a specialist firm to take a look.
