Latest Blog from Stewart Kitchens & Bathrooms

I know many of you will be planning to make changes to your homes in the Spring. An en-suite bathroom or shower room is an excellent addition, not only from the point of view of your convenience but also for adding value to your property.

However, before you start knocking walls down you might want to consider why you should get the help of a professional. Here are four good reasons:

I spotted an interesting article on the Ideal Home magazine’s website recently and thought I should share it with you. Here, according to the article, are 5 of the hottest trends for kitchens in 2019:

1. Green is the new black. Or blue. Apparently navy blue was the colour of 2018 as far as kitchens were concerned. This year it is all about green and botanically influenced tiles and wallpaper. Shades of emerald and forest green will rule.

I know there are a multitude of issues to consider when planning a new look for your kitchen. Here are four important things to think about:

1. Functionality – never lose sight of the function of your kitchen. It is often the very heart of a home where meals are prepared and eaten and the family gets together regularly. This means the space must be used as efficiently as possible. There is what is called the ‘kitchen triangle’ made up of the three essential parts; the sink, hob and fridge. Take some time to draw this triangle before you do anything else.

I have thought this for a while and now an official study has confirmed that fewer than half of the adult population are confident undertaking DIY projects in the home.

The study was carried out by Local Heroes, a home improvement and repair service backed by British Gas.

2,000 adults were involved in the survey and just 41% said they felt positive and confident enough to tackle DIY jobs around the home, preferring to employ a local tradesman to do the job instead.
